PELATIHAN ENGLISH FOR TOURISM UNTUK KAMPUNG ADAT KRANGGAN

ABSTRAK
Penggunaan bahasa Inggris untuk pariwisata dapat menarik turis mancanegara untuk mengunjungi sebuah tempat. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dalam berbahasa Inggris komunitas penggiat pariwisata di Kampung Adat Kranggan. Kegiatan ini berjudul English for Tourism dan dilakukan di kantor Kelurahan Jati Rangga. 20 peserta hadir dalam kegiatan ini yang terdiri dari warga sipil, PNS, dan berbagai elemen masyarakat yang ingin meningkatkan kualitas wisata di daerah Jati Rangga. Kegiatan ini terdiri dari tiga tahap. Tahapan pertama, para peserta diberikan presentasi mengenai kegunaan bahasa Inggris untuk membantu komunikasi dengan turis mancanegara. Tahapan kedua, para peserta diberikan presentasi mengenai frase-frase yang diperlukan ketika menggunakan bahasa Inggris untuk pariwisata. Tahapan ketiga, para peserta berlatih menggunakan frase-frase yang baru diajarkan dengan satu sama lain. Tahapan terakhir dipantau oleh pemateri untuk melihat penggunaan bahasa Inggris para peserta. Melalui survei yang dilakukan, mayoritas peserta memiliki pendapat yang positif mengenai kegiatan ini. Selain itu, materi yang diberikan juga dianggap sesuai. Namun, para peserta berharap kegiatan ini dapat dilakukan lebih sering sehingga mereka bisa menggunakan bahasa Inggris kepada turis mancanegara dengan lebih baik.
ABSTRACT
The use of English for tourism can attract tourists from different countries to visit a place. The present event aims to improve the English skills of a group of participants to communicate in English. The present event is titled English for Tourism and was conducted in a district office of Jati Rangga. The present event was attended by 20 participants. They consist of various stakeholders from people, civil servants, and different elements of society which are eager to improve the condition of tourism in Jati Rangga. There are three stages in order to conduct this research. The objectives of the first stage is to present the benefits of English toward tourism as it allows people to communicate with tourist from abroad. In the second stage, the participants were given a presentation about phrases that can be used to communicate with tourists. The last stage was practicing the phrases recently taught. This stage was monitored by the presenter. According to the survey held in the end of the event, most of the participants had positive perceptions toward the event. Nevertheless, the participants hoped for further events that can be held more often so that they can use English for tourism fluently.
