Abstract Literacy skills—which include the ability to read and understand texts—are crucial for young people, especially kids. To improve these skills, the "Teras Bahasa" program was launched. This program aims to foster a culture of literacy among young people while introducing English to the community. This event consists of four stages: field surveys, activity formulation, monitoring and evaluation, and preparation of activity reports. The evaluation was conducted using a 10-item survey. The participants were 20 children from the area. The results of the activity evaluation showed that most participants considered the "Teras Bahasa" program very useful and worth conducting regularly. Participants also suggested that "Teras Bahasa" include more varied activities, such as film reviews or storytelling competitions that can encourage the participants to discuss and read.
