Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria and Responsibilities

The journal Agroscience  recognizes authorship based on substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. To ensure transparency, accountability, and ethical publication practices, all individuals listed as authors must meet the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contributions
Authors must have made substantial contributions to the conception or design of the research, the acquisition of data, or the analysis and interpretation of the data.

  2. Drafting and Critical Revision
Authors must have participated in drafting the manuscript or revising it critically for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval
All authors must have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication.

  4. Accountability
All authors must agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office throughout the submission, peer-review, and publication processes. The corresponding author must ensure that all authors have approved the manuscript and agreed to its submission to the journal.

Author Contributions

All authors are required to disclose their individual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. The journal encourages the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to describe each author's specific contributions, where applicable.

Non-Author Contributors

Individuals who have contributed to the research but do not meet the authorship criteria should not be listed as authors. Their contributions may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, with their permission.

Changes in Authorship

Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be accompanied by a written explanation and the agreement of all authors involved. Such changes are subject to approval by the editorial board.

Prohibition of Unethical Authorship Practices

The journal does not permit unethical authorship practices, including:

  • Gift authorship: Listing individuals as authors who have not made substantial contributions to the research.
  • Ghost authorship: Omitting individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research.
  • Guest authorship: Including authors primarily to increase the perceived credibility or visibility of the manuscript without legitimate contributions.

The journal reserves the right to investigate suspected authorship misconduct in accordance with its publication ethics policies.

Artificial Intelligence and Authorship

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of scholarly work. Authors who use AI tools must disclose such use in accordance with the journal's AI Policy. Human authors remain fully responsible for the content of the manuscript.

Ethical Standards

The journal encourages authors to follow internationally recognized publication ethics standards, including the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), where applicable to the journal's discipline.
