Post-publication Discussions, Corrections and Retractions
JJ keeps the scholarly record accurate and follows the COPE Retraction Guidelines (2019); published articles are never removed or changed silently.

When it is used |
What happens to the article |
|
Erratum / Corrigendum |
An honest error by the journal (erratum) or the author (corrigendum) affects part of the article but not its conclusions |
A linked correction notice is published; the corrected version is posted with the notice |
|
Expression of Concern |
Evidence of possible misconduct exists but the investigation is not yet conclusive |
A notice is linked to the article until the matter is resolved |
|
Retraction |
Clear evidence of unreliable findings, plagiarism, redundant publication, fabrication, unethical research or serious undisclosed conflict |
A retraction notice is published; the article stays online, watermarked "RETRACTED", with metadata updated |
|
Removal |
Only where the content is unlawful, defamatory, infringes rights or endangers someone |
The text is removed; title, authors and a notice of the reason remain |
Withdrawal before publication. Authors may withdraw a manuscript before acceptance by written request stating the reason. Withdrawal after acceptance, or to submit elsewhere during review, is permitted only for serious reasons accepted by the editor.
Post-publication discussion. Readers may send comments or criticism of a published article to the editor. Substantive comments may be published with the author's reply.
Details are set out in the journal's Article Retraction & Withdrawal policy.
