MENGEMBANGKAN MINAT DAN MOTIVASI BERBICARA DALAM BAHASA INGGRIS MELALUI STORYTELLING

Abstract

Kemampuan berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris merupakan salah satu hal penting yang sebaiknya dikuasai oleh mereka yang ingin berkomunikasi dengan orang-orang dari latar belakang linguistik yang berbeda. Namun, penguasaan bahasa Inggris bisa terkendala oleh rendahnya motivasi siswa dalam belajar. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris melalui kegiatan storytelling. Kegiatan ini dilakukan di salah satu lembaga pendidikan di Bekasi yang bernama Pesantren Motivasi Indonesia. Kegiatan ini terdiri dari pengenalan storytelling, teknik-teknik storytelling dan contoh-contoh cerita populer yang dapat digunakan untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Di akhir sesi, para peserta diajak menunjukkan kemampuan mereka untuk bercerita. Setelah kegiatan, para peserta menunjukkan motivasi yang lebih besar untuk berbicara dalam Inggris. Kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi awal dari kegiatan-kegiatan serupa yang berguna terhadap peningkatan kemampuan dań motivasi bahasa Inggris.
