MEMBERDAYAKAN SISWA DI PESANTREN MOTIVASI INDONESIA MELALUI PELATIHAN STRUCTURE AND WRITTEN EXPRESSIONS PADA TOEFL ITP

Abstract


ABSTRAK

Tata bahasa adalah salah satu aspek yang paling sulit untuk diperoleh. Namun demikian, kemampuan memahami grammar sangat dibutuhkan untuk lulus TOEFL ITP (Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program), khususnya bagian Structure and Writing Expressions. Memberikan pelatihan tata bahasa dapat membantu siswa untuk menguasai bahasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan program pelatihan yang dilakukan untuk memberikan strategi yang dapat digunakan oleh para peserta untuk menguasai TOEFL ITP. Peserta dalam pelatihan ini berjumlah 12 siswa Pesantren Motivasi Indonesia. Hasil kuesioner yang dibagikan setelah acara menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar peserta pelatihan merasa puas dengan pelatihan tersebut dan berharap adanya pelatihan-pelatihan berikutnya yang dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan gramatikal mereka, terutama yang dapat membantu mereka mendapatkan nilai yang lebih baik dalam TOEFL ITP atau tes bahasa Inggris lainnya.

 

ABSTRACT

It has been argued that grammar is one of the most difficult aspects to be acquired. Nevertheless, the ability to understand grammar is needed to pass TOEFL ITP (Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program), especially Structure and Written Expressions part. Providing grammar training may help students to master the language. The present study aims to describe a training program conducted to provide strategies which can be used by the participants to ace TOEFL ITP. The participants consist of 12 students of Pesantren Motivasi Indonesia. The results from the questionnaires which were distributed after the event showed that most participants are satisfied with the training and hoped for next trainings which can improve their grammatical knowledge, especially ones that may help them getting better scores in TOEFL ITP or other English tests.
