Abstract
This article will reveal the effect of using “Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL)” on the ability to write official letters. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative with experimental research design. The population and sample of the study were students of class VII SMP Negeri 2 Bantargadung TKB Cikembang, totaling 32 students. The results showed that there was an increase in the value of the treatment using the CTL approach on the ability to write official letters of students, although the increase varied. It can be seen from the students' scores during the pretest and posttest that there are differences. The lowest increase was from 56 to 67, which was an increase of 11 points, and the highest increase was from 44 to 100, which was an increase of 56 points. Nevertheless, it is necessary to put forward the hypothesis that the CTL approach has an effect on the ability to write official letters to students, which is rejected because the t-count significance test is smaller than the t-table.
