Author Guidelines

The Author’s Guideline of Alinea (Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajaran)

1. Introduction

Alinea (Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajaran), with registered number ISSN 2301-6345 (print) 2614-7599 (online), is a scientific journal published by Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia, Universitas Suryakancana in cooperate with Perkumpulan Pengelola Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (PPJB-SIP). It is a national journal that covers various issues related to the learning of bahasa Indonesia. The aim of this journal publication is to disseminate the conceptual thoughts or ideas and research results that have been achieved in the area of learning bahasa Indonesia.

This journal has been available since 9 April 2012 with the release of Volume 1, Number 1, the Year 2012 and it has been accessible online since 2017. This journal is indexed in Indonesian Scientific Journal Database (ISJD), Indonesia Publication Index (IPI), and Google Scholar. The editorial board invites you to submit your manuscript to be published in this journal. 

2. How to Write the Title, the Name, and the Author’s Address

The title of the manuscript should be written on the top of the first page with the center text alignment. Meanwhile, the author’s name (without academic degree), and the affiliation address of the author should be written with the center text alignment under the title of the article. The author should give two line spaces between the title and the author’s name. Then, the space between the author’s affiliation address and the abstract title is one space. Three to five keywords arranged in alphabetical order and separated by semicolon must be written under the abstract. In addition, the title of the article that is written in Bahasa Indonesia should be also translated into English (look at the example above).

The first author or the corresponding author must be written first followed by the second, third, and other authors. The communication regarding the article revision and the final statement will be informed via email only to the corresponding author.  Provide the first author’s surname followed by the given name.  If there are more than one author, the author’s names should be written separately by a semicolon (;). For second and other authors, provide his/her first name only (Pamungkas, Daud; Jumadi & Aprillia Adawiyah)

3. The Manuscript General Guidelines

The manuscript text's general guidelines are as follows:

  1. The manuscript is an original research result that has not been published in other publication media or publishing houses.
  2. The manuscript does not contain any plagiarism element. The editorial board will directly reject the text that indicates plagiarism.
  3. The submission and publication processes are free, without any additional fees.
  4. The manuscript that has been written under the guidelines of Alinea (in MS Word format, use this article template) must be submitted through Online Submission System using Open Journal System (OJS) on the Alinea E-journal portal (https://jurnal.unsur.ac.id/index.php/ajbsi) of the author or reviewer in the “Register” button.
  5. The manuscript article writing guidelines and template can be downloaded. The template and the guidelines for the article writing are available in MS Word (.doc) format.
  6. The manuscript online submission can be viewed in the part of the online submission guidelines below.
  7. The manuscript that does not follow Alinea writing guidelines will be returned to the author before the reviewing process.
  8. The manuscript should contain several aspects of a scientific article as follows: (a) the title of the article, (b) the author’s name (no academic title), (c) the afiliated author’s address, (d) the author’s email (e) the abstract and the keywords, (f) the introduction, (g) the research method (h), the research findings and discussion (i), the conclusion (j), the references.
  9. The subtitles included in the text (Introduction, Theoretical Review, Research Methods, Result and Discussion, and Conclusion) are written without numbering order. The subtitles are written in the bold and title case format. It uses the left text alignment without underlining. The next expanded subtitles should be written in the bold and sentence case format, It should use the left text alignment and the Italics.
  10. The manuscript can be written both in Bahasa Indonesia or English. The manuscript should consist of twenty (20) to twenty-five (25) pages including pictures and tables.
  11. The main body of the article must be written in two columns(except for the main title, the author’s name, and the abstract) with the space between columns 10 mm, Time New Roman, 12pt font size, 1.5 line spacing.
  12. The terms using foreign languages are written in Italic format. In the article that uses Bahasa Indonesia, foreign terms should be avoided. Each paragraph is written 10mm from the left side border and there is no spaces among paragraphs. All numbers are written in Arabic numbering format, except for the new sentence.
  13. The tables and pictures are placed in the text group after the referenced tables or pictures. For table, put table number (Arabic numbering) and the title of table (Table Caption) on top of it. For pictures, put pictures number (Arabic numbering) and the title of picture (Figure caption) below it. The pictures attachment should be guaranteed that they can be printed well (font size, resolution, and line space are clearly seen). The picture, the table, and the chart should be placed in the center between text groups. If it has a bigger size, it can be placed in the center of page. The table should not contain vertical lines, while horizontal lines are allowed only for the important point.

4. The Guidelines for the Manuscript Body Text

The title of the manuscript: The title should be informative, brief, and clear. It should not generate multi interpretations. It also has to pinpoint the issues that will be discussed. The first letter of the first Word is written in capital case and symmetrically. The article title does not contain any uncommon abbreviation. The main ideas should be written first and followed by their explanations. The article title should not exceed twelve words, in 14pt-sized font, with a bold selection, and in the center text format. Meanwhile, the abstract has to be written within 150 words maximum and followed by three to five keywords.

Introduction: The introduction must contain (sortly and consecutively) a general background and a literature review (state of the art) as the basis of research question(s), statements of the scientific article, main research problems, and the hypothesis (for quantitative and classroom action research). In the final part of the introduction, the purpose of the article writing should be stated.

Research Methods: The method is implemented to solve problems, including analytic methods. The methods used in the problem-solving of the research are explained in this part.

Discussion and Result: This part consists of the research results and their discussion. The results obtained from the research have to be supported by sufficient data. The research results and the discovery must be the answers or the research hypothesis stated previously in the introduction part.

Conclusion: This is the final part containing conclusions and suggestions. The conclusions will be the answers to the hypothesis, the research purposes and the research discoveries. The conclusions should not contain only the repetition of the results and discussions. It should be the summary of the research results as the author expects in the research purposes or the hypothesis. The suggestions involve further ideas from the research.

References: All the references used in the article must be listed in this part. In this part, all the used references must be taken from primary sources (scientific journals and the least number is 80% from all the references) that published in the last ten years. Each article should have at least ten references.

5. The Guidelines for the Citation and References

An author should cite several articles from Alinea (Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajaran). All the data, citation,s and quotes in the article taken from other authors’ articles should be cited properly and put in references. The references should use a reference application management such as Mendeley, End Note, or Zotero. The writing format used in Alinea (Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajaran) follows the format applied by Modern Language  Association (MLA) 8th Edition.

6. The Guidelines for the Literature Reviews

The literature reviews should use reference application management such as Mendeley, End Note, or Zotero. The writing format that used in Alinea (Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajaran) follows the format applied by MLA 8th Edition.

7. The Online Submission Manuscript Guidelines

The manuscript should be submitted by choosing one of two procedures (second procedure is more preferable):

  1. The document should be submitted by Online Submission System in the Alinea (Jurnal Bahasa, Sastra, dan Pengajaran) E-journal portal HERE. 
  2. Firstly, the author should register as either an author or reviewer (checking role as author or reviewer) in the “Register” or HERE. 
  3. After the registration step is completed, log in as an author, click in “New Submission”. The article submission stage consists of five stages, such as: (1). Start, (2). Upload Submission, (3). Enter Metadata, (4). Upload Supplementary Files, (5). Confirmation.
  4. Then click the “Start” button, choose Journal Section (Full Article), and check all the checklists.
  5. Click the “Upload Submission” button and upload the manuscript files in MS Word format in this section.
  6. Click “Enter Metadata” button and fill in with all the author data and affiliation, including the Journal Title, Abstract, and Indexing Keywords.
  7. In the “Upload Supplementary Files” section, the author is allowed to upload supplementary files, the statement letter, or any other else.
  8. In the “Confirmation” section, if the data you entered are already correct, then click “Finish Submission”.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  7. New Article Processing Charge (APC) IDR 450.000 will be imposed for accepted manuscripts submitted to Alinea, If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.

 

Copyright Notice

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.

  2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
  3. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work.

 

Author Fees

This journal charges the following author fees.

Article Publication: 450.00 (IDR)
If this paper is accepted for publication, you will be asked to pay an Article Publication Fee to cover publications costs.

If you do not have funds to pay such fees, you will have an opportunity to waive each fee. We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
