ANALYSIS OF THE INDEPENDENT CAMPUS CONCEPT IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY PROGRESSIVISM AND PARENIALISM IN THE CONTEXT OF EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (ESD)

Abstract


This research is to determine the substance of an independent campus in the perspective of the school of educational philosophy of progressivism and perennialism. This research was carried out through a qualitative approach with a literature study method. This data analysis process includes: data reduction, data display, verification and conclusions. . The results of this study are 1) the independent campus policy so represents the educational philosophy of progressivism, wants modernization and democratization, in order to realize independence or freedom in education, in the context of its educational and learning orientation, the independent campus has alignment with the educational philosophy of progressivism, because it focuses on efforts to transform various skills, disciplines, social sensitivity and personality, to students. Progressivism is more about teaching sustainable futures or called "Education for Sustainable Futures (ESD) can support the development of better learning practices from 17 indicators initiated by the UNESCO and national government agencies. 2) the independent campus policy, in the context of the perennialism education philosophy stream, does not have substantial relevance to the way of sustainable learning and teaching Education for Sustainable Futures (ESD), perennialism is inversely proportional to progressivism, the orientation of an independent campus to shape student personality, of course, still has relevance to the philosophy of perennialism education, although not the main foundation, the philosophy of perennialism provides a reflection on the importance of maintaining the substance of education that remains in harmony with culture, including in the modern era.
