EXPLORATION OF MATHEMATICS LITERACY ABILITY OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN THE CONTEXT OF CAMPING

Abstract


This study is motivated by the low mathematical literacy abilityof students in junior high school as shown by most students cannot identify story problems and students cannot convert story problems into mathematical form. This study aims to analyze the mathematical literacy abilityof junior high school students in the camping context on the phytagorean theorem material. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The subjects in this study were students in one of the junior high schools in Cianjur, class VIII B. The research instrument included a mathematical literacy ability test. The data collection techniques used consisted of tests. Data analysis technique was done by data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the ability of mathematical literacy with the camping context of students in general on the phytagorean theorem material was in the medium category, consisting of most students being able to on the representation indicator (restating the problem) and only a small number of students were able to on the mathematising indicator.
