THE INFLUENCE OF THE PRINCIPAL'S LEADERSHIP STYLE ON TEACHER PERFORMANCE AT SMK NEGERI 1 BIREUEN REGENCY

Abstract


Teacher performance in schools is influenced by various factors, one of which is the leadership of the school principal. The better the principal's leadership, the better the teacher's performance. Based on this background, the aim of this research is to determine the influence of the principal's leadership style on teacher performance. The type of research used in this research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The population in the study were teachers at SMK NEGERI 1 Peusangan, Bireuen Regency, totaling 80 teachers. All populations in this study are samples. The variables in this research are the principal's leadership as the independent variable and teacher performance as the dependent variable. Data collection techniques use questionnaires, interviews and documentation. Hypothesis testing calculations use the SPSS version 20 program. Hypothesis testing techniques use correlation analysis and simple linear regression analysis. Before the analysis test is carried out, a prerequisite test is carried out, namely the normality test One Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov and linearity test. Hypothesis testing with a significance level of 5% obtained results showing that there is an influence of the principal's leadership on teacher performance. This is shown by the R result of 0.531 and the determinant coefficient (R2) is 27.3% probability value 0.000 ≤ 0.05 (Say.). This shows that 27.3% of teacher performance is influenced by the principal's leadership performance in leading, while 72.7% is influenced by other factors not discussed in this research. It is recommended that parties involved in the world of education such as school principals, teachers, education managers and the government should always improve the quality of their performance so that the goals of education can be achieved easily.
