THE EFFECT OF THESAURUS APPLICATION IMPLEMENTATION ON THE SKILL OF WRITING POETRY BASED ON APUN GENCAY FOLKLORE

Abstract

There are many factors that can influence students to write, whether in writing scientific papers, literary works, as well as in other writing. One of the factors is the lack of vocabulary use. The difference between this research and previous research is that it emphasizes (1) the skill of writing poetry with creative thinking based on Cianjur folklore (Apun Gencay) (2) the effect on students' writing ability. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the thesaurus application implementation in improving poetry writing skills with creative thinking, and to find out student responses regarding the implementation of the thesaurus application. Data were obtained from students' poetry writing results. The method used in this research is Quasi-Experiment or Pseudo-Experiment and using Posttest-Only Control Design research design. Data collection techniques used in this study, namely tests, documentation, and questionnaires. T-test is a data analysis technique used in this study. The results showed that using the thesaurus application in class X SMK Bunga Persada Cianjur improved with an average score of 83.63% in poetry writing skills. Student responses to the thesaurus application obtained positive responses. The final test results of students in the control class and experimental class have significant differences. Students' responses to the implementation of the thesaurus application in learning poetry also show good results, so students hereby agree that the thesaurus application is suitable for use in learning to write poetry. The limitations of this study are (1) The questionnaire sheet used as an instrument in this study cannot be known whether students fill in the statements appropriately or just fill in. (3) The time used in the research at school was only conducted for 2 meetings, this shows that the time used is relatively short. This research can be a guide for future researchers, the research to be carried out would be better to have different learning media, so that we can explore better learning media.
